To realise our vision REACH raises awareness of women's rights, provides counselling & legal support and training; hosts campaigns to celebrate women while highlighting the plight of farm women; and conducts research to inform advocacy and lobbying work around sexual harassment and others forms of abuse against women.
Pilot: Caring for our Community
April - June 2007
Project Objective
REACH provides counselling and legal support to many victims of sexual harassment and gender based violence but it also believes that community members have the drive and resources to provide these support services to their own communities. In 2007 this process was begun. The aim was to help initiate an environment of support, understanding and care in the communities by the training of farm working women with four personal growth workshops and four basic counselling skills training workshops. Each workshop was offered once weekly over an 8 week period consisting of two sessions of 3 hours each. In 2010 REACH has applied for funding to re-train the initial 8 women who participated in the first phase of this project.Partner
